After several months testings and used mainly for Google own products (incl. News, Blogger, Maps, Picasa Web Albums, etc.), Google opens its URL shortener (goo.gl) service for general public with a new website at www.goo.gl.
In the meantime Bing has its own URL shortener (binged.it) which was spotted in the wild in mid-January this year. However, binged.it is now redirecting to Bing homepage. Maybe Bing is searching for a better URL shortener than binged.it. We suggest that they should use B.in (India cTLD).
Google promises that their URL shortener (goo.gl) is more stable than competitors (incl. bit.ly, fb.me). Also, Google engineers believe that goo.gl has better security system and has the fastest speed on the web.
