AOL announced that they have renewed their partnership with Google for another five-year term. The new agreement will expand to global reach with services including Web search, mobile search, and content network (YouTube and video content).
Bing decision engine had been talking for months with AOL executives about utilizing Bing for AOL search with lucrative deals. To add about 3% AOL search market share into Bing’s total search market share would be great. However, AOL has been partnered with Google since 2002. This previous experience in working together could have helped the deal to be closed and signed sooner than many analysts have expected.
