Kin was a bad strategy for Bing’s parent as the giant software company is trying to capture share in mobile web. Bing’s parent has been spending multi-millions to promote out-of-date phones running on a very old operating system since mid-April, as the two type of phones ('One' and 'Two') are currently being sold at Verizon. Some tech watchers believe that only 500 units were sold so far, while Verizon continues to drop the hardware price or giving it for free to phone subscribers. The breaking tech news about future of Kin was first reported by Gizmodo.
The giant software company may also had spent over one million dollar for this three letter domain name kin.com.
Kin is hurting Bing's parent reputation before the launch of Windows Phone 7 which is set to be released in October this year. Bing's parent should focus solely on releasing Windows Phone 7 ASAP to fight Google Android and Apple iPhone.
The failure of Kin may be the main reason for Bing boss Mr. Ballmer to fire two top execs in the Entertainment and Devices division one month ago.
