While Google and Yahoo cannot compete with Korea’s search engines which are dominated by local players in both Naver and Daum, Bing’s future in Korea is deemed with some doubt. According to Korea research firm Metrix, as reported by JoongAng Daily, Bing received about 900,000 visitors in Korea during the first week of launch, and its visitor number increased over 40 percent in the second week of launch.
As JoongAng Daily, the Korean online news, wrote “over 58 percent of all search keywords were related to adult sites.” Bing is gaining popularly in Korea since its launch due to its ability to attract window shoppers who are interesting to preview explicit adult contents. As we've previously reported, Bing Video search feature (“autoplay” tool) allows user to preview porn contents by easily hovering a mouse over any Bing ‘adult video’ without leaving the site or having to provide a user ID.
